ICT for Rural Development

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has a great role in the development of any country. ICT has affected various fields and changed the working style of various Government and Non-Government organizations. It has helped in reducing the time for the users to accomplish a particular job. ICT has drastically reduced the cost of services that is to be incurred by the users. After looking at the cost saving advantages of Internet and other ICT tools Governments has started to think over providing so many other services online which one cannot think of in the last decade. It has happened because of drastic changes in the Information Technology (IT) sector. During the last decade cost has decreased and computing and transmission power has increased exponentially. In this paper how ICT has impressed various fields related with rural development. The field taken into account is rural development. Various existing processes still require certain changes that will reduce red tapism, role of touts and bring transparency in the system.
